The Fundamentals of Mountain Bike Leadership course is ideal for those who want to lead groups using a mix of on-road and off-road environments.

It’s a two-day course ideal for cycling club members, Teachers, activity centre staff, Youth Leaders or even a group of friends. It will enable those who complete the course to safely lead rides on terrain that ranges from the urban fringe and gravel tracks through to open countryside, woodland and most trail centre blue routes.

  • 16 hours training and assessment

What will I need to bring?

You will need to bring everything that you would need for a day long off road bike ride plus:

  • A working, safe bike
  • A pen, paper or notebook
  • Food, drink and snacks to fuel you for the day
  • Wet weather gear in case of wet weather
  • A change of clothing in case you get wet

Where will the course take place?

  • The course will take place on the trails around Pott Shrigley and Lyme Park on the fringes of the Peak District. We use the amazing facilities at Shrigley Hall Hotel which is situated to the South of Stockport and a few minutes drive from the A555 Manchester Airport Link road. In order for you to receive your certificate from British Cycling, you will need to take a first aid course but this will not prevent you from taking the course in the first place.

It will take two days to complete the course, plus a half day of online learning plus the time it takes you to complete your first aid course.
