Ride the same routes as Grand Tour Professionals in the warm autumn weather of historic Girona whilst taking your British Cycling Ride Leader Training Course.

We have partnered with well established training camp and cycling holiday provider Eat Sleep Cycle  to offer a unique way of gaining your British Cycling endorsed Ride Leader Qualification.

The Ride Leader Qualification qualifies cyclists to deliver guided bike rides and is for road cyclists looking to develop ride leading skills.

If you are seeking to lead rides at your club, group, or even business then this qualification is essential for you as many insurance companies are insisting on leaders having this qualification to satisfy their criteria and without it you may not be insured.

The course covers group riding etiquette, route planning, advanced communication, group management on longer rides and over challenging and traffic free terrain, decision making and advanced risk management.

Our team of tutors and coaches are experts in their fields and have a wealth of knowledge and experience meaning that you will get expert tuition, coaching and guidance throughout your time with us.

This four-night experience will see you grouped with riders from across Europe and take part in the British Cycling endorsed Ride Leader Course, whilst sampling the delights of this unique city.

Girona

Girona seems to be home to more than half of the world’s professional peloton. Many of the Grand Tour professionals have made their home here and prestigious names such as Christian Meir and David Millar have set up businesses which you will visit during your stay.

You will stay at the Four Star Hotel Carlemany in central Girona and ride out with Manchester Cycling Academy leaders each day on training rides on the quiet and traffic free routes around Girona. Classroom sessions will take place at Eat Sleep Cycle headquarters in southern Girona and the practical elements will take place on routes to the south of Girona.

Whilst this is not a high performance training camp, on some sessions we will cover 20-30 miles. You are expected to have good cycling ability and be a confident and competent road rider able to ride 20-30 miles at one time.

Other sessions will see us travel much shorter distances as we will concentrate on the more technical aspects including group riding etiquette, advanced communication, group management, decision making and advanced risk management.

Included in the five day programme are three guided rides around Girona where we will take will show you the hip cafes, cycling hotspots and Game of Thrones film locations and take you on a day-long ride to the beautiful coastline of the Costa Brava.

Full Itinerary:

• Thursday October 24th. Transfer from Girona Airport. Arrive at Hotel Carlemany. Welcome lunch and afternoon coffee ride. We offer airport transfers at scheduled times during the day and this will be arranged with you upon booking.
• Day 1 Friday October 25th. 07.00 Team Breakfast. 08.15 Group ride to Eat Sleep Cycle HQ 09.00. Road Ride Leader Course Begins
• Day 2 Saturday October 26th:
  • Road Ride Leader Group. 07.30 Team Breakfast. Hilly Road Ride to Angles and Susqueda Reservoir.
• Day 3 Sunday October 27th Event Day at Benidorm Cyclocross World Cup
  • Road Ride Leader Group. 07.30 Team Breakfast. 09.00 Road Ride to L’Escala on the Costa Brava.
• Day 4 Monday October 28th 07.30 Team Breakfast. 09.00 Morning Ride to Els Angels and Hincapie Loop. Depart from Hotel Carlemany. Transfer to Barcelona Airport.

Deposits and Balances

There is a payment of £250 to secure your place.

Balances will be due before 6th September 2024 or if you prefer, you can pay in full at the time of your booking or pay instalments. Just let us know if you want to do this and we will send you a link to our Direct Debit payment system.
