This course covers essential first aid for cyclists and gives you the skills to be able to help yourself and others if you have an accident or incident whilst out on a ride or during your coaching session.  The course covers topics such as head injuries, what to do in the event of a fall or crash, how to deal with breaks, sprains and dislocations and much more.

  • The legal requirements of first aid and what a first aider is
  • The contents and use of first aid kits
  • How to take vital signs including: Level of Consciousness, Pulse, Breathing, Temperature and Colour
  • How to conduct a primary survey: (DRABC)
  • What the Recovery Position is and when to use it
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Familiarisation and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • How to deal with choking
  • Blood Loss
  • Shock
  • How to deal with Medical Emergencies: heart attack, seizures, head injuries
  • How to deal with Minor Injuries: burns, splinters, tick bites, bruising
