Manchester Velodrome Sessions
Join us on Friday’s throughout November & December for our Velodrome session.
If you’ve ever wanted to ride on the same Velodrome as Olympic legends such as Sir Jason or Dame Laura Kenny, then you can do so too.
We are working with Manchester Metropolitan University to host a series of track sessions for their students and you can join us too.
These sessions feature a series of activities for those who haven’t been on the track before and specific sessions for those who have been on the track but who wish to get more experience.
The Sessions Feature:
- Small groups with a maximum coach to rider ratio of 1/ 10
- Fantastic coaching from experienced, DBS checked and qualified coaches from Manchester Cycling Academy
- A wide variety of exercises to build your track confidence
- Groups based on ability to allow you to progress at your own pace
We will split the riders into groups with a maximum coach to rider ratio of 1 to 10 so that everyone who attends will get feedback from the coaches and will be able to ask them plenty of questions to help them improve.
Suitable for riders of all abilities aged between fourteen and eighteen years old, (Youth A and Junior) the sessions feature a series of activities for those who haven’t been on the track for before and then specific sessions for those who have been on the track but who wish to get more experience.
Those who attend will be split into ability groups with a maximum ratio of one coach to ten riders. You do not need to have ridden the velodrome before, but you will need to be a competent bike rider – these are not learn to ride sessions.
Discounted places are available for residents of Manchester – please speak to your club coach or youth worker who may have access to these places. Otherwise, you can contact us via the WhatsApp link on the right of this page to enquire of remaining availability.
Track bikes are included in the cost of the session. If you would like to hire cycling shoes you can do so at the National Cycling Centre reception. You will need to bring your own cycling helmet, a bottle of water to drink and wear tight fitting clothing suitable for bike riding.
Sessions take place from 5.30-7.00 with track exercises starting at 6.00. Be there in plenty of time so that you get the best out of the session. There is plenty to do before the session starts such as getting the right size bike, getting your kit ready and making sure you are in the right place.
